Dan’s Mighty Plod
Our intrepid Director Dan is fundraising for SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal death charity) by ‘plodding’ his way on the 28th July 2019 from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire to Haryln Bay, Cornwall targeting to arrive 3 weeks later on the 21st August 2019. Dan’s route will cover 250 miles across 6 counties. Dan’s family experienced the support of the charity first hand when their daughter Constance Elizabeth was stillborn in 2012. She would have been 7 in August.
While the day job at Igloo Creative may be about helping corporate clients raise their profile with re-branding, websites and digital marketing, Dan’s been turning his talents to physical challenges over the past few months in preparation for his colossal fundraising walk. He wants to shine a light and raise approximately £3000 for SANDS.
“In 2012, my second daughter Constance Elizabeth was born sleeping at full term pregnancy. It was an incredibly tough time for both myself and my family. Fast forward seven years and I have decided to walk the 250 miles from Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury (where Constance was born) to Harlyn Bay in North Cornwall (where we scattered her ashes). I will be undertaking this challenge in August this year to raise much needed money and awareness for Sands, the Stillbirth and neonatal death charity, who provide vital support and advice for bereaved parents. Since announcing the challenge to family and friends, I have already raised over £1300 in donations. The challenge itself will be completely self-funded by myself including accommodation, logistics and equipment. Any online donations, equipment, clothing or accommodation assistance would be gratefully received. Thank you to everyone!”
Thank you from Igloo for the support so far
Fellow company Director, Louise Major comments, “ I’ve known and worked with Dan 17 years. I’ve seen him get engaged, get married, have his first baby and start a business together. We are so very proud of Dan for pushing himself right outside of his comfort zone to fundraise significant funds for SANDS, this very worthwhile charity who help so many UK families. He is going through kit at a rate of knots, so sportswear brands who could donate appropriate clothing would be ideal as well as offers of accommodation on the route, specifically in Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. We are right behind Dan and would like to thank our clients, suppliers and other local Hertfordshire businesses who are also supporting the Plod. We are all so grateful for your help but would love to help him exceed his target with more donations!”
